Baz Luhrmann: A Retrospective Screening
My entry to D&AD New Blood (2015). The brief was to create a new, typographic visual language for film advertising, using a director of choice.
The stylisation intends to epitomise Baz Luhrmann's value as a theatrical director. This symbolic typographic ‘firework’ opted for throughout conveys the envisioned drama and explosiveness depicted in his films. It further echoes additional motifs: including gunshots, shattering dreams, and how each story reaches an intense breaking point, where hope and love ultimately ends in death and tragedy.
